Archie’s Island Furniture is built to last and withstand the harshest environments – tough weather, your kids, occasional spills, even your Uncle Henry. All of Archie’s wooden outdoor furniture is constructed of Malaysian mahogany known as Merpau. Merpau is a tropical hardwood that is rated by the UK Timber Research and Development Association as “Very Durable” i.e. rated to last from 15 to 25 years in contact with the ground. This tropical hardwood is ecologically harvested from government owned forests under very tight logging restrictions mandated by the Malaysian Government to insure sustainability of their forest ecology and timber resources. The wood is kiln dried to 10-12% moisture content to insure proper curing and stability of the wood over time. Each component of our wooden garden furniture receives 2 primer coats of oil based alkyld primer then receives 2 finish coats of the highest quality marine/industrial enamel paint for maximum durability in harsh, outdoor environments. Our components are fastened with stainless steel hardware. We are confident that ours’ is the most durable painted outdoor garden furniture available.
