How Much is Shipping?

All our furniture is shipped in components via UPS Ground. Shipping to the Continental US is FREE. Please contact us for shipping quotes for other locations.

Does the Furniture Require Assembly?

Most of our furniture is shipped in components. Each piece is assembled using stainless steel bolts. By way of example, our Fan Back and Round Back Chairs come in four components (back, seat and 2 arm assemblies) and are attached with 6 bolts and 2 screws. The only tool needed is a 9/16" wrench. We provide easy-to-follow instructions with each shipment. It usually takes about 10 minutes to assemble a chair. How Long Does It Take to Get My Furniture?

Pieces from the Natural and Classic Collections will ship within 2-3 business days of your order. Pieces from the Custom collection are sprayed to order and usually ship within 2 weeks of your order date. Shipping times vary from 1 day to New England and New York to 5 days to California.

Do I Have To Be Home To Receive My Shipment?

We do not require a customer signature for delivery. This way the UPS driver will leave the packages. We are happy to coordinate with you an exact arrival date so the packages arrive just when you want them. This is good for shipment to weekend or vacation homes.

How Long Does The Paint Last?

Archie’s Island uses the highest quality water and oil-based enamels for outdoor use that are commercially available. The paint, either from the Classic or Custom Collections, will give you many years of enjoyment. Over time, some fading of the paint color will occur. This is to be expected. We provide a touch-up kit with every color you order, so, in the event one of your pieces is scratched, you can easily touch it up with the matching color.

How Do I Care For My Furniture?

We advise our customers to periodically clean the surfaces of the furniture with a damp cloth and mild, non-abraisive soap. The furniture does well in most outdoor environments. If you are right on the ocean, we advise bringing in the furniture in the winter since the salt air is hard on painted finishes. Some customers bring their chairs in or cover them during the winter. The more you pamper the furniture, the better it will last.

Can The Furniture Be Refinished?

Yes. In most cases, refinishing a piece of furniture is straightforward. We will supply enough paint in your colors for the job. We advise that the surfaces be cleaned and then sanded gently using 180 grit sand paper. The paint should be applied with a fine bristle brush — we like a 1.5" wide nylon bristle because it does the job well and is not too expensive. If you have further questions, give us a call.

For a reasonable charge, we also offer a refinishing service for customers within a 50 mile radius of Boston. Please call for details.

Can I Just Buy The Paint?

We are not a paint store and, generally speaking, we don’t sell the paint except to customers buying furniture. Sometime customers ask for a quart of paint to paint a door to match their furniture. We are happy to accommodate these requests. All we ask is that you send us a photo of the finished product for our scrapbook.

How Do I Place An Order?

You can order our furniture two ways — either online through our secure shopping cart, or if you prefer over the phone by calling 800-486-1183. Some customers prefer calling because they can speak directly with Archie who will do his best to answer all your questions and discuss your color choices and options.

How Does Payment Work?

We accept Master Card, Visa, American Express and Checks. If you order through our shopping cart, your credit card will be charged just prior to your order being shipped. For Custom Collection orders, we charge a 50% deposit to start the custom spraying and the 50% balance prior to shipping.

Is There Sales Tax?

There is a 6% sales tax for orders shipped to Massachusetts addresses. All orders to other states are tax free.

Do You Offer Occasional Sales? Seconds?

Yes. Periodically, we have sales on our web site. We also have sales on discontinued items and further discounts on factory seconds picked up at our factory in Woburn, MA. Check back periodically on our Web Site for offers, or call Archie any time to see what’s available at a discount
